The Cerrado faces growing threats from deforestation, wildfires, and unsustainable land use, demanding immediate and data-driven action. The Instituto Cerrados, with its mission to protect 1 million hectares by 2050, needed an innovative solution to engage communities and experts in environmental monitoring. The challenge was to develop a tool that would allow users to report incidents, access critical information, and actively contribute to conservation efforts in a simple and effective way.
To tackle this challenge, the Suindara app was developed as a digital platform for real-time environmental monitoring. The app enables users to report heat sources and potential fire outbreaks through geolocated alerts, providing valuable data for rapid response. Additionally, it offers real-time fire risk forecasts based on climate and environmental conditions, ensuring that users stay informed and prepared. Beyond fire monitoring, the platform integrates educational resources and conservation updates, fostering community engagement and promoting sustainable practices. By combining technology with collective action, the Suindara app strengthens Cerrado conservation efforts, allowing individuals to become active participants in protecting one of the world’s most vital ecosystems.
